Introducing Wendy Struck...

  1. Our very special artist guide for the weekend will be joining us from Medicine Hat, Alberta.

“I create to communicate and to question, to explore and present ideas, to initiate a dialogue with others. I paint in order to express and interpret daily life and because I enjoy texture, colour, and fluidity. I layer drawings and photo transfer because I want to see the complexity of life mirrored in my work. I assemble and build with found objects to reference both their function and symbolism. I create as a means to document events as I experience them. I feel the need to record evidence of where I am, the places I visit, and the activities within those settings. For me the work is a chronicle, a proof, of people and places having existed.” -

Wendy Struck  is a working visual artist living in Medicine Hat Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Art from the University of Regina. Wendy is a member and studio artist at The Hive Artists’ Hub Society where she continually develops new bodies of fine art for sale and exhibition.

She also divides her time between, developing and creating large scale interior and exterior mural projects, and teaching art classes and workshops both independently and through the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre’s Artist in the Classroom Outreach Program.
